Pyzano’s Update: Property Management Lists Pizzeria Space as …

For the past several months, the doors have remained shut at Pyzano’s Pizzera.

Readers have questioned whether the eatery will close down for good — especially after property management company Weingarten Realty posted the location as an “available unit” on its website [see photo attached].

Listed as A0M, Pyzano’s is one of three spaces listed as avaiable for lease on the 580 Market Place tenant list.

The information was shared on CVLegends’ Facebook page earlier this week and many readers reacted as though this was the end for the longtime local pizza joint.

Other readers have added that after phoning the restaurant, a recording states that calls are no longer being accepted at that number.

Pyzano’s Owner Frank Gemignani told Castro Valley Patch earlier this week that he was never notified about the realty listing and found it “interesting.”

“I’m not a lawyer but this just seems illegal,” he said.

He did not release further updates on the status of Pyzano’s but said he will do so as that information becomes made available.

Weingarten Realty’s Marketing Manager Carrie Murray said this is common practice by landlords “if the lease is coming up for renewal or if the tenant will vacate the space.”

However, she did not release further detail regarding the status of Pyzano’s.

Back in March, Gemignani told Patch that the pizzeria was undergoing plumbing repair issues and had hoped to reopen within weeks.

Despite weeks eventually turning into months, the future of Pyzano’s continues to remain unclear.
